John Maxwell’s Staff Training
To help our staff grow in leadership development, we did a study through John Maxwell’s “21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” course. The training was offered to everyone on staff–from the head administrator down to the custodian–because we believe everyone has leadership potential. This greatly increased everyone’s capacity and they all walked away feeling much more empowered to lead others. Jon and Bernardo brought it many exercises and activities to clarify the concepts and contextualize them for the Mozambican culture, the staff found this very helpful in understanding the study. This kind of training is truly the heart of Equip Mozambique, as we want to see leaders empowered to bring their nation into a brighter future.
Youth Literacy Seminar
Our Library promoted the first youth seminar to promote the reading culture in the city and in the parents, with the following theme “the importance of reading for today’s young people”. In this event there was room to motivate them to value their knowledge so as not to continue in ignorance. Some aspects addressed as advantages of reading that will allow them to have an open mind and a critical sense.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
The Financial Management Training in the principle given to Equip Mozambique staff, after the members of one of the partner churches, this training aims to empower and influence believers with basic management knowledge to combat mental and physical poverty. And also providing improvements in how to use your assets.
The lack of capacity and knowledge in the matter of Financial Management causes many believers to lose the essence of stewardship; Being a steward involves the task of taking care of something. Christian stewardship means that God gives in our hands several things, that we have to take care of them responsibly.
So if you are not trustworthy in dealing with the riches of this ungodly world, who will entrust you with true riches?
Literacy Training for Children
Our Beireano Library organized a children’s meeting for a mini-training aimed at influencing them to have a reading culture. The literacy rates in Mozambique are very low, and reaching the next generation is crucial to changing this. These events are also good for helping kids grow an interest in the Bible.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
– Matthew 19:14.
